Abstract
New developments in social, political, cultural, ideological and even scientific and technological spheres in modern era brought about fundamental changes in human mind that lead various societies of the world to the highly different situations. These new situations are resulted by the societies attempt for reconstruction of their identities. Social and political revolutions, as kind of modern phenomenon, create deep challenges and novel experiences such as challenges of identity. In this regard, Islamic revolution which is an important turning point for reconstruction of national identity of the Iranian society can be discussed through different aspects. Through this investigation, the important question is that “After a long period of chaos and turmoil, how Iranian identity reconstructed during Islamic revolution?” In order to answer this question, we try to study thought and method of Imam Khomeini, founder of the revolution and leader of the Islamic system in Iran. On the other hand, by resort to Marsiya’s theory on identity and its four dimension analysis in common and national level we describe Iranian identity formation process. With resort to cultural movement leadership theory and its anthropological principles we study the formation of new identity in Iran.
