Abstract
The real aim of this study assessed the relevance of human values system and national identity of high school students (girls &boys) in Tehran. 330 students were randomly selected from five regions (north east, north west, middle, southeast &southwest) in Tehran. The instruments that were used in this study were two main questionnaires:
A: the Alport, Vernon and Lindsey human values which contain 6 subscales (theoretical, economic, aesthetic, social, political & religious)
B: national identity scale (Batmani) that assessed 7 dimensions of identities in the Iranian context (social, political, religious, historical, geographical, lingual &cultural). Results revealed that:
- Significant relationship is observed between girls and boys in theoretical, economic, aesthetic& political values. The comparative study of values system shows that boy students have got more scores in theoretical, economic, political & religious values than girls.
- Boys were proved to be significantly different from girls in terms of social, political, historical & lingual identities. But in national, religious, geographical &cultural identity there is no significant difference.
