Abstract
The question of the identity of the Iranian society is a persistent inquiry. The present study addresses the sociological study of the national and local identity of Laki speaking people of Iran. The research population included all Laki speaking people of four provinces of Lorestan, Kermanshah, Ilam, and Hamedan from whom 402 participants were selected as the research sample through multistage cluster sampling. Results indicate that there is a correlation between the national identity and local identity, and the intensity of the tendency to national identity is stronger than that to local identity. The standard regression coefficient shows that the variables of cultural coexistence, local identity and the aesthetic interests have strengthening effects on the national identity, and determine 42 percent of the national identity variance.
