Abstract
More recently the viewpoints of Martin Heidegger regarding the relations between history, identity and place have drawn the attention of the researchers. Heidegger has given a time-oriented interpretation of anthology of place and on the basis of this interpretation has emphasized on the historical conscience of the nations. For Heidegger, attachment to land is an fundamental issue and man’s identity is defined on the basis of his Onthological ties with soil and his local roots. Moreover the severance of this root is one of the sources of contemporary man’s crisis, causing his homelessness.
The main hypothesis of the present article is that Heidegger through revival of the concept of place in thought, defines the origin of identity on the basis of the principle of settlement and man’s attachment to land as well as return to locality. Hence, he considers man’s quest for roots of identity among the historical missions of every nation. Finally, he is a follower of a policy based on originality, which is existential in nature and tries to put an end to man’s homelessness and his agony of estrangement.
