Abstract
Religious identity is a matter of sociological research because of its important role in social and individual life and today, it has been threatened through different ways such as expanding global communication, specifically by the Internet. The main purpose of this paper is studying the relationship between the duration, rate and mode of the Internet usage and social – economic status of the students, as one of the most important segments of the internet usage in Iran’s community that use Internet, with their religious identity. The results of this survey confirm the high level of religious identity among the students of Mazandaran University, even though there are differences between the various dimensions of their religious identity. on the other hand, the findings show significant relationship between duration, rate and mode of the Internet usage and social – economic status of the students with the type of religious identity.
