Abstract

Expanding of higher education is an important indicator which has been discussed by many scientists. The main motivation for strength of higher education systems is in providing skilled people. In the other hand, expansion of higher education can have a variety of functions and can also contribute to national cohesion. In this regard, is expected that higher education to be a factor to developing and training skills, that the next generation needs to it for the formation of nation and state. But, what has been considered in this article is the role of the various elements of higher education, including admission procedures and selection of students based on the national solidarity. Usually universities and higher education institutions have different ways for adopting the students. In Iran usually, universities accept students based on their region. Therefore, this paper studied the relationship of this type of student admission and its impact on national unity. Therefore, in this study, two groups of university administrators in the Ministry of Science, Shiraz, Hormozgan and Mazandaran has been surveyed. In addition, documents, records and statistics in the National Education Assessment were used for further analysis. Based on the research findings, in student and manager views, admission of local students, is a barrier for the exchange of cultures and subcultures, and lead to less understanding of other people that it would harm the national unity and cohesion.
