A Study of Relationship between Alienation and Political Participation among Students of Isfahan University

Abstract
The role of people in power structure is one of the most important determinants of the legitimacy of the government in every country. Political participation as the highest indicator of legitimacy requires people's further presence in various arenas. Students are one of the major groups that can participate in various arenas. Students can contribute to the better handling of political and social affairs in the country through their constructive role. Therefore, the importance of the political participation of students lies in the fact that such participation will improve stability and dynamicity, strengthening the continuation of the political system. The purpose of this article is to study the relationship between Isfahan university student political participation and alienation .For data collection, questionnaire was used, the sample was 134 students their and data were analyzed with SPSS. By dividing alienation into three variables (feeling of meaninglessness , feeling of powerlessness, and feeling of social isolation) and considering two dimensions of political participation under psychological perspective and tangible (formal and informal) participation, it is observed that there is a significant correlation between alienation and the level of students participation.
