Abstract
National identity is understanding the essence and individuality of a nation against the other nations so as to recognize itself from the others and depend to its belongings. Evolution and reproduction of the national identity are shaped through time and space. National identity is expressed by the places names. Naming places affected by the culture of the society reveals the extent of emphasis and dominant though upon the importance of national identity in a country. This study which is analytic descriptive try to investigate this point that to what extent the national identity and its dimensions is taken into consideration in naming the streets of Tehran. The findings show that there is disequilibrium in naming based on the national identity consideration.
