A Sociological Investigation of Citizenship Culture and National Identity; (Case Study: Women in Firoozabad City)

Abstract
Citizenship culture develop in parallel to the establishment of nation-state and consequently has often been closely associated with nationalism. This phenomenon parallel to globalization in the past decades, is become to one of most important contemporary social issues. This study aims to study the effect of religion and media on citizenship culture among 18-29 years women in firoozabad city. This research was designed according to Janoski and Turner theories and the data were collected by a researcher-made questionnaire among 400 females in Fars, Firoozabad. Females were 18-29 years old.The samples were selected by a multistage cluster sampling.The findings were analysed in SPSS and shows that among 4 hypotheses of the research, the hypothesis that related to rate of religiosity, rate of media, rate of political wareness and national identity is approved. Also the validity of questionnaire by face validity were obtained and reliability of research was verified by Cronbach Alpha. Multivariate regression has shown that 4 hypotheses of the research, rate of religiosity, natonal identity, rate of political wareness and rate of education have explain 38 percent of the variations of dependent variable (citizenship culture).
