Defining the pessimistic view towards the concept of globalism as an imposed project and the optimistic assumption of globalization as an extensive process, the author deals with its positive as well as negative impacts on national identity based upon the theory of "Uniformity in spite of breaks". Some of the positive outcomes of globalization are promotion of cooperation, interaction, exchange, equilibrium, exdurence, flexibility, capacity, pluralism, reproduction of human awareness and the development of intermadiatory facilities of national identites. Nrgative consequences of globalization, which generally lead to the weakening of national identity, also include increase of stractural conflicts, dualtiy of identity, cultural unification, and rein forcement of centrifugal tendencies. Finally, some strategies are suggested for the transformation of challenges to opportunities through "the management of changes".
