Abstract
The concept of "Identity" is discussed sociologically from different viewpoints. In general, there are two approaches about "Identity". The first one relates identity - formation to psychological and individual problems and the second assesses it as social category.
This article explains these two approaches in addition to new theoris and it’s relation with collective habitus and construction of We-identities.
The process of identity - formation in traditional and modern societies is another subject discussed in the article.
