Abstract
This article examines the relation between football and national identity. After a definition of identity and its aspects, there is a discussion about football’s effect on national belongings in Iran and other countries. These effects could be seen in local identities, too. Interaction between football and political system, conflicts between national and global identities in football players also typology of this matter have been discussed in this article.
