A study of obstacles to Theory-making in the Humanities: Bu Ali-Sina University

The main purpose of this research is the study of theory making obstacles in the feild of humanities according to the views of Bu Ali sina university faculty members. The research method is survey. Statistical population are the all faculty members of the college of literature and economics at the Buali Sina university. The sampling method is stratified random sampling. The research samples included 81 male and 13 female professors. The data was collected using a researcher made questionnaire, this instrument had 35 questions in the field of theory making obstacles. The validity of the qustionnaire was confirmed by inquiring from specialists in this field and the reliability coefficient of this instrument was calculated by the cronbach formula and found to be 0.874. The statistical analysis method are both descriptive and inferential statistics including frequency, percent, standard deviation, one sample T-test and anova. The research findings show that from the views of faculty members, individual factors in high rate and the other factors that is social, axiological, methodological and epistemological, were rated as much prevented theory making. Also researh findings show that there is no difference between male and female faculty members view point about theory making obstacles but there is significance differences between two college faculty members view point about theory making obstacles.
