National Identity Elements in Aref Qazvini’s Divan

Abstract
Constitutional era has always been known as a turning point in contemporary history of Iran, during which Iranian society have changed from different dimensions. In terms of identity the comprising elements of Iranian identity have also changed.
Persian language and literature like previous eras have played significant roles in the construction and deepening of national identity of Iranian during the contemporary history.
This article attempts to investigate the elements of national identity in Aref Qazvini’s poems using content analysis method.
Therefore, elements of national identity, including ancient culture and values, religious values and western values are investigated in relation to some variables. The study shows that Aref Qazvini paid particular attention to elements of Iranian national identity. Despite changes in the comprising elements of Iranian identity, national ancient values have retained their position.
