Hence, the other side of the identity coin is contest or otherness, which if manifested in other’s symbols and interpretations, and in enemies, foreigners, infidels, or competitors. This identity has some rules and Criteria, that while representing selfness or otherness, clearly define the concepts of "self" and "other". It is hereby daimed that on ther side of the thinking mind, there exsist the metaphor of "the straight path"[1], which is seen as a yardstick for this recognition. Revealing the split between the real and fake selves, the straight path examines the issues of identity and otherness, and interoduces their representations. The path, also provides a perspective for avoiding the identity crisis. Therefore, it methodologically deals with the identity dillema in the frameworke of political thinking <br clear="all" /> [1]. (translator’s note) هویت با سؤال کیستی و در تعامل و همورزی با «غیریت» در پیوند و وجه تمایز بین «من» و «ما» با غیر و دیگران است. از این جهت، روی دیگر سکه هویت، ضدیت یا غیریت است که در نمادها و تعابیر؛ دیگران، دشمنان، بیگانگان، کافران یا رقیبان تجلی می‌یابد. این هویت دارای ضابطه‌ها و معیارهایی است که توسط آن تعریف روشنی از «خود» و «غیر» به دست می‌آید. نویسنده بر آن است تا ثابت کند که در پس ذهن متفکر موردی، آن‌چه ضابطه این شناسایی است، استعماره صراط مستقیم است. این صراط شکاف میان خودواقعی و خودکاذب را افشا می‌کند، هویت و غیریت را مورد سنجش قرار می‌دهد و مصداق‌های و عینی آن را معرفی می کند و بالاخره چشم‌انداز راه برون شد از بحران هویت را وا می‌نمایاند. بنابراین، از حیث روش، هویت را در قالب اندیشه سیاسی نیز پی‌گیری می کند.
